Displaced Abomasum (DA) surgery
Cow #5518 was diagnosed DA and surgery was performed on Monday 26 by Dr. Maroney. In the pictures you can see the sequence, from preparing the surgery area until the cow is ready to go back to her stall. Were she started eating the hay offered right away. Note that, eventhough the DA is diagnosed in the left side of the cow (remember “ping” test), the incision is performed in the right side of the animal, to pull back the abomasum in place.
